Jane Harrison (nee G from Norwich, Norfolk | Signed on: Sun 30 May 2010 16:26:04 BST Scarborough and Peasholm Park - a magical place in the 50s, when I lived there. My father, Ernie Good, was hugely involved in the Naval Battle from its beginning. He was responsible for introducing the aeroplanes and used to do the commentary from the bandstand. His employees from 'Goods of Scarborough' were the men driving the boats. I remember sitting on the island behind the scenery during the bombardment of the 'town' when I was a little girl, and being terrified! Dad is now 94 and lives in Norfolk - his house, of course, is called, 'Peasholm' |

Kevin from Barnsley | Signed on: Fri 28 May 2010 16:01:31 BST I have beautiful & magical memories of Scarborough & the park. We used to holiday in Scarborough every year throughout the seventies (I'm now 45) & every time it made my heart gallop. I think the wishing well is now filled in & planted with flowers. What a shame! Throwing my penny in while making a wish was one of the highlights of the holiday. Buying a clockwork boat at one of the gift shops was always special & I couldn't wait to get into the park to launch it on one of the tranquil boating ponds. Wonderful times! |

Cheryl Myers from Sutton-in_craven | Signed on: Wed 28 Apr 2010 00:15:53 BST I'm so glad I'm not the only one with such fond memories of Scarborough and Peasholm Park. Mum always made me wait till the last night of our holiday to go round the Tree Walk Wonderland! I also loved the little canaries and finches in the cages, going round the lake in a canoe with my dad, but my happiest memories are of sailing my little yacht on the boating pools in Peasholm Glen. How I loved that boat. Thank you for this lovely site, enabling me to indulge my own nostalgia. |

jayne battersby from leicester | Signed on: Sun 15 Nov 2009 23:49:38 GMT Dad was a farmer,we'd spend a few days holiday in Scarb at the beginning of September each year. The first night would be spent on the tree walk .Dad would jump out from behind the same tree and scare us kids every year. He'd always test the depth of the lake and lift up an oar of mud and duck poo. My Mum,standing on the 'shore' worried we would all fall in the lake. It was wonderful.Magical. We went there every day.So glad its still going strong. |
